hirzer-kidney residence, new westminster, bc
This heritage home lacked an inviting front yard. The straight and narrow old concrete walk was transformed into a meandering mica slate walk, creating a pleasing effect for the user. Curving planting beds open up views of lawn and plantings. A magnificent weeping red maple is now a focal point in the front garden, complete with the subtle use of night lighting. A courtyard was designed at the front door to bring more emphasis to ones arrival. This courtyard is constructed with tumbled granite stone pillars and walls, and an overhead rustic cedar arbour.
